Brotherhood survived the S. A. Masters’ gallant stand, hammering out a 20-19 decision to remain undefeated in the 2017 Belau Masters Softball League yesterday at the Dandan Softball Field.

Brotherhood remained undefeated after nine games, while the S.A. Masters dropped to 4-5 behind second-running Peleliu (8-1), Momma Charo (6-3), and Karui (5-4).

The Masters, holding on to a 19-17 lead after 7 1/2 innings, only needed three outs in the bottom of the eighth in order to hand the Brotherhood their first loss.

Bill Camacho’s two-run home run tied the game and Jack Diaz scored the walk-off run on a Julian Camacho single to complete Brotherhood’s come-from-behind win.

Bill Camacho, who walked in his first plate appearance, homered twice going 3-of-4 with three runs and four RBIs, while Julian Camacho, 3-of-4, also homered and scored thrice with three RBIs.

Peleliu also had the same result against Sufa, 20-19, with Russell Kintaro and Mabel Ngirngemelas blasting a homer each.

Peleliu was also trailing Sufa (2-7) at 19-16 in the bottom of the eighth.

Dominic Hideo singled and reached home, together with Charles Kenty, who also singled, on back-to-back errors by Sufa to cut the deficit to 19-18.

Kintaro’s solo homer tied the count and Ngirngemelas’ solo blast had Peleliu celebrating with the victory.

Mommy Charu handed Karui its fourth loss in nine games following a 13-6 decision in the other game.

A five-run seventh and Leo Bobai’s performance at the plate in the bottom of the inning sealed Mommy Charu’s victory.

Bobai, after giving up a single, retired the next three batters he faced—a strikeout, infield fly, and a line drive—to end the game.
