Manglona, Paulino named to CUC board
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres last week appointed two new members to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. board, which was swept clean after the governor sacked the board members in early May.
The new members, Miranda V. Manglona and Jovita Paulino representing Rota and Tinian, respectively, were appointed to replace former CUC board members Albert Taitano of Rota and Eric San Nicolas of Tinian.
The newly appointed members must first gain the approval of the Senate before their appointment becomes official.
As of publication, the only CIC board member approved by the Senate is Weston Thomas Deleon Guerrero. Matthew Holley, a lawyer appointed by Torres as well, has yet to be approved by the Senate, but a public hearing for the approval of Holley’s appointment is set to take place today, 2pm at the Senate chamber on Capital Hill.
Deleon Guerrero’s appointment was approved last July 11, 2017.
The former CUC board, which consisted of former chair Adelina Roberto, Joseph Torres, Ignacio Perez, Albert Taitano, Eric San Nicolas, and David Sablan Jr. were all asked to resign the wake of the Engine 8 procurement fiasco.
