Abstracts for 3rd Marianas History conference online

The Northern Marianas Humanities Council announced yesterday the availability of abstracts and presenter bios for the 3rd Marianas History Conference, which will be held at the Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan on Sept. 1-2, 2017.
The conference will feature keynote addresses by Dr. Laura Torres Souder, Julian Aguon, and Dr. Carlos Madrid and presentations by 32 local, regional, and international scholars.
Their presentations will cover a wide variety of topics related to the conference’s theme “Milestones in Marianas History.”
In addition to presenters, the conference will include a movie night during which locally-produced films will be screened and there will be a guided tour of Saipan’s historic and cultural sites.
This history conference is free of charge and open to the public. Seating will be on a first come, first served basis. Conference hours will run from 9am to 5pm on both days.

This bi-annual event is being supported by several prominent businesses and organizations including the Bank of Guam, IT&E, DFS, Guam Preservation Trust, J.C. Tenorio Enterprises, Northern Marianas College, Marianas Variety, Docomo Pacific, Triple J, Marianas Visitors Authority, Lollipops, Guampedia, Moylan’s Insurance, and Saipan Shipping.
