Agri Fair on Aug. 19
The Saipan and Northern Islands Agricultural Fair Association is busy getting ready for the Agricultural Fair that will be held on Aug 19, 2017, Saturday, at the Garapan Fishing Base.
The fair, an annual event to showcase the products of the island’s numerous farmers, will be held from 6am to 2pm.
Its host, the Saipan and Northern Islands Agricultural Fair Association, consists of the Division of Agriculture (Kagman extension), the Department of Lands and Natural Resources, the local animal industry, and the Garapan Public Farmers Market.
The fair will showcase different competitions including livestock competition, ornamental flowers and specialty crop competition, a plant division competition, and a cooking competition.
The event is open to the public. Registration is still being accepted and applications can be picked up at the Division of Agriculture, the Department of Lands and Natural Resources, and the Garapan Public Farmers Market.
In line with this event, the parking area at the Garapan Fishing Base will be temporarily closed in preparation for the fair, according to a public notice issued yesterday by Division of Fish and Wildlife director Manny M. Pangelinan.
The parking area to the immediate west of the Garapan Fishing Base will be closed starting on Aug. 16 until Aug. 19, 2017, but the Garapan Fishing Base boat ramp will remain open for boating access.
