Bank of Hawaii names new senior leaders

HONOLULU, Hawaii—Bank of Hawaii announced yesterday its new senior leadership team in the West Pacific region.

Together, Mark Tokito, Erlinda D. Alegre, and Jon F. Bargfrede have more than 70 years of experience working in Guam, Palau and Saipan.

Tokito, senior vice president, retains and manages all key relationships with large commercial clients via the Guam Commercial Banking Center. He continues to serve as Bank of Hawaii’s lead banker for commercial banking clients in Guam, Saipan, and Palau by providing lending, deposit, treasury management, merchant service and other banking solutions. Tokito is the primary liaison with businesses, government and community leaders in those regions.

Tokito started at the bank in 1985 as a management trainee, and rejoined as a corporate banking officer in 2006. He holds a bachelor of business administration degree in finance from the University of Hawaii. A resident of Sinajana, Tokito is a board member of the American Red Cross-Guam Chapter, member and past president of the Rotary Club of Tumon Bay, treasurer of the Guam Girl Scouts Inc. and serves as an adviser to Guam Community College’s Business and Visual Arts Department.

Alegre, senior vice president, is responsible for the bank’s retail and operations in the West Pacific region, overseeing two branches in Guam, one in Palau, one on Saipan. She is responsible for the overall financial performance of the West Pacific region, including sales, service, compliance and risk management.

She joined Bank of Hawaii in 1994 and has spent her entire career in Guam. During her 23 years at the bank, Alegre has been promoted to positions of increasing responsibility, including operations analyst; operations manager; and compliance, operations and support manager.

Alegre holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Guam. A resident of Mangilao, Alegre is a vice chair and board member for Junior Achievement and Oasis Empowerment Center, member and past president of Soroptimist International of the Marianas, and member and treasurer of Guam Council of Women’s Club.

Bargfrede, senior vice president, joined Bank of Hawaii in October 2016 as West Pacific’s consumer lending manager. He is responsible for leading the Consumer Lending staff and businesses in the West Pacific, including Dealer Indirect Lending and Direct Lending.

Bargfrede has over 25 years of experience in the financial industry. Prior to joining the bank, Bargfrede was president and CEO of Bank of Saipan for 13 years.

Bargfrede earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from Chaminade University of Honolulu and is graduate of the CBA Graduate School of Retail Bank Management. A resident of Agana Heights, Bargfrede is a member of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Guam and serves on the boards of the USO-Guam Chapter and the Guam Chamber of Commerce-Armed Services Committee. James “Hobbs” Lowson, senior vice president, has accepted a position as the West Hawaii market manager and relocated to Kona, Hawaii, effective July. Lowson served in the West Pacific region for over 19 years. (PR)
