Scheduled power outages today, tomorrow
There will be a scheduled power interruption today, Aug. 3, 2017, from 3am to 4am, to allow Commonwealth Utilities Corp. line crew to safely conduct distribution system maintenance on the air break switch on the Feeder 1 distribution circuit at Power Plant 4 in Puerto Rico on Chalan Pale Arnold Road.
Water services will be interrupted during the duration of the power interruption; however, all services should be restored after the power is re-energized.
Areas to be affected are Sadog Tasi (Baranka Ln., Pila Dr., Rasaki Way, CUC water & wastewater offices, and CUC water lab), Puerto Rico (Puerto Rico Dr., Malinao Dr., Langlat Pl., Marinu Pl., Salasa Pl., Mattinan Pl., Chaochao Pl., Unai Ln., Puetto St., partials of Isla Dr., Bahia Dr., Pantalan Cir., and Puerto Rico Shell gas station), and Lower Navy Hill (Saluda St., Publiko Dr., Paluw Ln., and Pattida Dr.)
Water wells to he affected: PR-164
Wastewater lifts stations to be affected are S-1 and S-8.
Tomorrow, Aug. 4, there will be a power interruption from 5am to 7am, to allow CUC line crew to replace three 100KVA transformers with three 37.5KVA pole mounted transformers. This is part of an ongoing U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Higher Education Challenge grant program to improve the efficiency of the power distribution system throughout Saipan.
Again, water services will be interrupted during the duration of the power outage; however, all services should be restored after the power is re-energized.
Areas to be affected are China Town (Commonwealth Drive, Nimitz Ln., Linao Ln., Legislature Ln., World War II Ln., Uruwow Ln., Congress Ln., Secretary Ln., and Komiti Av.), Japon Dr., Okinawa Ln., Bokungo Ln., Carter Pl., Alemana P1., Spoehr Pl., Raghisch St., Ghiyobw St., Piga Palaya Pl., and Gualo Rai (Gualo Rai Rd. Matua Ln., Rai Dr., Robat Drive, Isley P1., Earhart Drive, United Nations Ln., Mac Arthur Dr., Treaty Ln., Constitution Pl., Historia Pl., Towers Ln., Veteran Dr., and Liberation Ln.)
Water wells to be affected are GR-151, GR-154, GR-4, and GR-5.
The Gualo Rai traffic light will also be affected.
Because of the scale of work that will be performed, CUC asks travelers to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the affected areas.
