SBL to open new season Aug. 28
The Saipan Baseball League is set to open its 2017 Summer/Fall season on Aug. 28,. Over-40 Masters and Under-25 are the age groups with the schedule of games to be determined by the number of teams that would compete in each division.
The division that would attract at least six teams would play every Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while the one with the least would have Tuesdays and Thursdays for its schedule.
Defending Masters division champions GSM, Papa Bears, BSI, and the Bolleros have confirmed their participation while three teams showed interest in competing for the U25 crown.
SBL Inc. league director Tony Rogolifoi is also informing all teams that would join the 2017 Summer/Fall season to look for their respective sponsors to help them defray the league expenses—entry fee, uniforms, and equipment.
The league entry fee is $1,000 and should be made payable to SBL Inc. Deadline of payment of the entry fee is before 5pm on Aug. 25, Friday, and there won’t be any extension. Rogolifoi is also encouraging all teams to contact him to reserve a slot.
Rogolifoi said another meeting is scheduled for both divisions next week at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room. He is advising everyone to stay posted for the announcement of the date and time of the meeting.
Entry fees, uniforms, ground rules, equipment, and other related matters would be discussed in the meeting. Waiver and roster forms can be picked up at the Oleai Sports Complex office.
