Isamu United, SSS cruise past foes

Siam United and SSS waltzed past their respective opponents in the Saipan Soccer School’s 2017 Youth Summer Futsal Tournament yesterday at the TSL Sports Complex.

In the first game, SSS dominated Kanoa Football Club 2, 10-3, to reclaim the solo lead in the co-ed U12 division. SSS now has a 4-0-1 win-draw-loss record against Kanoa FC 2’s 3-0-2 slate.

Sean Gil led SSS’ easy victory over Kanoa FC 2 after scoring four goals. He got enough support from his teammates as Praise Woo and Garrett Weaver contributed three and two goals, respectively. Evan Mendiola was the fourth SSS player to light up the board, making one in the second half. With its 10 goals, SSS has earned the most so far in the tournament with 36 and has allowed 16.

Kanoa FC 2, on the other hand, drew one goal each from Markus Toves and Nolan Ngewakl and got one off SSS’ miscue. Kanoa FC 2’s goal total after five games is 26, while it has given up 23. Idle and winless Kanoa FC 1 has the least goals in the division with 6 and has yielded 29 in four games.

In the girls U17 division, Isamu United finally made it to the win column after dropping its first three games following a 7-0 triumph over Marianas Health Armada.

Therize Millare and Valeria Myers ended Isamu United’s skid after firing three goals apiece, while Princess Alcantara logged one. With the win, Isamu United matched Marianas Health Armada’s 1-0-3 card. Hakone FC and F. Marinos have identical 3-0-1 marks to share the top spot in the girls U17 division.

Meanwhile, NMI U16 nosed out HK SSS in the last game yesterday, 5-4.

Jim Maniago scored the lone goal for the NMI U16 in the second half to lift his team to the close victory in the boys U16 tiff. Maniago also had one goal in the first half, while John Mark Anastacio nailed a pair all in the opening 20 minutes of the game, and John Ezekiel Canape added one.

Joshua Daniel Moilig and R.J. Pangelinan registered two goals apiece for HK SSS, which is still winless in four games. HK SSS will try again to get the elusive first victory today when it takes on division leader Saipan Elite, which holds a 3-1-0 record. The boys U16 match is set for 5pm, while in the 3pm match, it will be NMI U16 versus 4Gives (2-1-1), and in the 4pm game, Isamu United will duel F. Marinos.
