SBL prepares for 2 leagues
Saipan Baseball League director Tony Rogolifoi is inviting representatives of interested teams to attend an organizational meeting for the two leagues with the opening dates next month yet to be determined.
The meeting for the SBL’s Under-25 league is set tomorrow at 5:30pm at the conference room of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, while it will be the Masters division’s turn the following day, Thursday, at the same time and venue.
Rogolifoi said that, this early, he is encouraging players that would form a team to start looking for their possible sponsors that would help them pay the registration fee. Teams must first settle all required league fees before the opening of the season.
He is also encouraging all squads that would participate in both leagues to have their complete uniforms ready before the start of the games.
Rogolifoi said 17 years old is the beginning age for those who are eligible to play in the U25 league. “We would allow a 16 year old to play if he shows that he could compete against the older players.”
The U25 is a league that gives former Big League players under the Little League program the opportunity to continue playing the sport and at the same time further honing their skills.
Entry fees, uniforms, ground rules, equipment, and other related matters would be discussed in the meeting. Waiver forms will also be distributed in both meetings. The Masters Baseball League is also set to open in August.
