F. Marinos, Saipan Elite ease past foes

Saipan Elite and F. Marinos cruised to victories in their respective divisions in Saipan Soccer School’s 2017 Youth Summer Futsal Tournament yesterday at the TSL Sports Complex.

Saipan Elite hammered HK SSS in the boys U16 game, 9-1, while F. Marinos defeated Marianas Health in the girls U17 match, 5-2. Three games were scheduled yesterday with SSS winning the curtain-raiser after a no-show from Kanoa Football Club 1.

Oliver Fajardo had a hat-trick and Merrick Toves and Rohan Basnet chipped in two goals to hand Saipan Elite’s its first win after settling for a draw against 4Gives FC in its first game. Rintaro Miyawaki and Jaydee Jose contributed one goal apiece in Saipan Elite’s first victory, while Joshua Daniel Moilig nailed the lone goal for HK SSS, which absorbed its second loss in as many matches.

In the girls U17 game, Guine Borja scored three goals, while Dejana Muna and Julianne Hall added one apiece in giving F. Marinos also its first triumph. F Marinos was nipped by Hakone FC in during the tournament’s opening day, 3-2.

Marianas Health Armada, which fell to a 1-0-1 win-draw-loss mark, drew its two goals from Mariana Castro and Jerlyn Castro to tie the match at halftime before allowing F. Marinos to control the game in the second half.

In other results, Hakona FC gained the early lead in the girls U17 division after moving up to a 2-0-0 slate following its 10-2 demolition of Isamu United last Wednesday.

Katrina Costales and Krizel Tuazon teamed up in powering Hakone FC to its second win after making four and three goals, respectively. Paulyn Joyce and Jhasmine Phan also hit the board for Hakone FC with the former recording a pair and the latter logging one. Theriza Millare knocked in both goals for Isamu United, which dropped to a 0-0-2 record.

In the boys U16, 4Gives also had a lopsided win against NMI U16 last Wednesday, 15-4.

4Gives broke away in the second half after NMI U16 moved within one at the break, 4-5. Andruw Omelau towed 4Gives to victory with his eight goals, while Ronnel Ocanada and Jether Yobech added two each, and Royce Angelo Ben and David Mafnas tallied one apiece.

John Mark Anastacio and John Ezekiel Canape posted two goals each on a losing effort for NMI U16, which got one goal from Jim Maniago.

Meanwhile, games in the futsal tournament will resume on Monday, as organizers will give way to the friendly tiff between NMI U18 and the Hualien FC Women’s Team today 4pm at the Hopwood Middle School Field.

Monday’s matches are as follows: Kanoa FC 2 versus SSS in the 3pm first game in co-ed U12; Saipan Elite against NMI U16 at 4pm in the boys U16; and F. Marinos opposite Isamu United at 5pm in the girls U17.
