Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang will be running for re-election in the 2018 general elections.

To officially announce his participation in the upcoming elections, Apatang will be hosting a fundraiser.

Apatang invites the community to join him and his supporters this Friday, July 14, and help support him.

The fundraiser will also celebrate Apatang’s 69th birthday.

Apatang served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. After his career as a serviceman, he then came back to the island to serve in the local government.

Apatang served for 10 years as a member of the House of Representatives and ran for mayor.

Apatang said he plans to retire from politics after serving his second term as Saipan mayor.

Apatang made it his mission as mayor to beautify the CNMI through picking up stray dogs off of the streets for the safety of the community, junk car removal, and by constantly maintaining the cleanliness of every village on Saipan.

For those interested in participating in the fundraiser, it will be held on Friday at the Pacific Islands Club Saipan. The fundraiser will be a dinner fundraiser with an entrance fee of $50. The event is open to the public.
