The Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam, currently has a team on Saipan for a consular outreach that started yesterday, July 10. The team will be here on Saipan until Thursday, July 13, 2017.

Consul Edgar Auxillian is leading this month’s consular mission, in coordination with Philippine honorary consul to the CNMI Glicerio Arago.

The consular outreach is being held at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.

According to Auxillian, the purpose of the outreach is to offer consular services to Filipinos who are currently living on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, mostly to renew passports.

In the next few days, the consulate aims to reach out to 500 Filipino citizens who have previously signed up to renew their passports. The consular team will capture their biometrics information for the renewal of passports.

The outreach offers passport renewal applications, new passport applications, reports of marriage, reports of birth, and reports of death.

According to Auxillian, while he is here on Saipan, he will also look into the deaths of the three Filipinos who died last Friday while doing work on a Commonwealth Utilities Corp. sewer.

Auxillian and Arago will coordinate with the company and with the authorities to obtain details regarding the deaths. The consulate will conduct this investigation in order to fulfill its duties and repatriate the remains.

“On behalf of the Philippine Consulate General, we give our heartfelt condolences to the families for this unfortunate incident,” said Auxillian.

For those interested in availing consular services, the consular outreach program will continue until July 13, 2017.
