A 19-year-old man was arrested in Kagman on Friday night for allegedly beating up a woman and a 10-year-old girl at an apartment in Finasisu last June 25.

Alexandro Ayuyu Gernardo now faces two counts of assault and battery and two counts of disturbing the peace. His bail was kept at $5,000 cash on Monday. Preliminary hearing will be on July 11 at 1:30pm.

The Office of the Public Defender was appointed as counsel for Gernardo. Assistant attorney general Jonathan Wilberscheid appeared for the government.

According to police, the woman and her 10-year-old cousin were home in Finasisu last June 25 when Gernardo came, hit the woman on the shoulder, lower back, leg, and lower jaw.

The suspect allegedly punched the 10-year-old girl on her arm and thigh. The girl called 911 at a neighbor’s house.

The report did not mention how Gernardo is related to the victims.

A police officer responded to the apartment last June 25. Gernardo was then arrested. He was then released re-arrested on Friday.
