Winn is named ACCJC president
Dr. Richard Winn, the interim president of the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, has been appointed to the position permanently.
Commission chair Dr. Raúl Rodríguez announced Winn’s appointment in a letter dated June 29, saying it comes at the conclusion of a national search.
“Dr. Winn has done an excellent job as the interim president and he is a perfect fit for this role. I have every confidence that he can continue the progress that has been made over the past six months,” Rodríguez said in the letter.
Winn was interim president of the agency since December 2016 and, for the preceding six months, had been vice president of Operations. Prior to joining the commission, Winn held senior positions for 12 years at the WASC Senior College and University Commission, retiring as its senior vice president. His other work in higher education accreditation includes serving on the Commission for Osteopathic College Accreditation. Winn earned a doctoral degree in higher education leadership from the University of La Verne.
