‘Thank you Imperial Pacific for supporting Tagaman’

The organizer of the 2017 Tagaman Triathlon is appreciative of Imperial Pacific International Ltd.’s Corporate Social Responsibility team for helping out at the June 24 triathlon by handing out water to the runners.

This was the first time for the CSR team to assist in the triathlon. It assisted with two aid stations for the runners.

The Tagaman is a signature event of the Marianas Visitors Authority, aimed at attracting visiting athletes and media coverage for the Marianas. The recently staged event was contracted to the Northern Marianas Cycling Federation in cooperation with the Triathlon Association of the CNMI or TRAC.

“TRAC is a new sport organization and, like other sports organization, we rely on our activities and generosity of the community. IPI is one of first companies who helped us out on our very first event,” said Ricky Castro of the Triathlon Association of the CNMI, which partnered with NMICF and MVA in this year’s Tagaman.

Tagaman is a labor intensive event that includes harmonizing swim, bike and run.

With IPI-CSR assisting in the event by volunteering at aid stations, it lessened the burden on the organizing committee, according to Castro.

“Because of [Imperial Pacific’s] support, we are able to allot more time and focus on other important aspect of running the multi-sport event,” he said. “The IPI-CSR nucleus staff is reliable on events like Tagaman Triathlon.”

This year’s Tagaman saw the participation of more than 80 individuals, including off-island entries. The number surpassed the 2016 turnout. (PR)
