As part of its ongoing efforts to attract more visitors from Japan, the Marianas Visitors Authority recently held a familiarization tour for travel agents, in cooperation with Jin Air.

Six travel agents from Fukuoka and one Jin Air representative were in the Marianas on June 15-18, 2017, to learn more about the destination and what it can offer potential visitors, who can readily visit the Marianas aboard Jin Air from Fukuoka via Seoul, Korea.

“Jin Air is already a strong partner in our tourism industry with their daily flights from Seoul,” said MVA managing director Christopher A. Concepcion. “The MVA is working very closely with Jin Air to strengthen that partnership by increasing awareness in Japan about the opportunity to fly Jin Air to conveniently get to the Marianas.”

The group kicked off their tour on Day 1 with visits to shopping outlets T Galleria and I Love Saipan, followed by lunch at Miyako Restaurant at Hyatt Regency Saipan. After an afternoon tour of sites in Marpi, including Bird Island Lookout, Grotto, Suicide Cliff, Japanese Last Command Post, and Banzai Cliff, the group conducted a site inspection of Mariana Lounge before experiencing dinner at Salty’s Restaurant.

Day 2 included a visit to awarding-winning Managaha Island, where Tasi Tours provided a briefing of what the island has to offer and barbecue lunch was enjoyed. Following Managaha, a series of site inspections were held at Kensingtonn, Aqua Resort Club, Sea Touch, Imperial Pacific International casino, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan and Joyful Dinner Show, and SandCastle Saipan cocktail show.

On the final day of the tour, the group experienced trekking to and swimming and snorkeling at Forbidden Island. Site inspections were held at Pacific Islands Club, Kanoa Resort, Saipan World Resort, and Grandvrio Resort Saipan. Dining was experienced at Bubba Gump and Giovanni’s.

The group lodged at Hyatt Regency Saipan. (MVA)
