A leading travel website, Expedia.com, has named Saipan as one of the best islands in the United States to vacation this summer.

Of the 12 islands cited by the Expedia.com article, as written by staff writer Chloe Mulliner, Saipan managed to get on the list with Vashon Island in Washington, Treasure Island in California, Matagorda Island in Texas, Puerto Rico island in Puerto Rico, Sanibel Island in Florida, Beaver Island in Michigan, Monhegan Island in Maine, Molokai in Hawaii, Wrangell Island in Alaska, Catalina Island in California, and Dauphin Island in Alabama.

Titled “12 amazing islands you’ll only find in the US,” the article, found at https://viewfinder.expedia.com/features/12-amazing-islands-youll-find-us/, came out last week.

Mulliner described Saipan as closer to Asia than North America in the Pacific Ocean. “This American territory is practically always 80s degrees [Fahrenheit], perfect for a hike to scenic (and historic!) Suicide Cliff and a dip in the waters at secluded Win[g] Beach.”

In an email message, Expedia.com communications specialist Jodie Booras said that Saipan “is the only island in your region to be featured [on] this list. Expedia describes your island as a tropical island perfect for scenic hikes and for taking a dip at secluded beaches.”

Expedia.com is a popular travel and destination website and was named as the most admired internet company in the U.S., according to Fortune magazine. In March 2017, Chelsea Clinton was named to the board of Expedia.com.

It is a medium to book airline flights, hotel reservations, cruise ship tours, car rentals, etc. They also offer vacation packages and present various attractions that provide destination suggestions.

Expedia.com chooses the destinations it recommends to the public based on the good reviews it garners from travelers.
