Cop maces DCCA staff who allegedly trashed GF’s items
A police officer maced an employee of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs early Monday morning and later arrested him.
The officer said he sprayed pepper mace on George Repeki, as the suspect was about to punch him when he tried to arrest him for destroying appliances and other belongings at his girlfriend’s house in Tanapag.
Repeki, 59, was arrested for criminal mischief, assault and battery on a responding police officer, obstructing justice, resisting arrest, assault with a dangerous weapon, and three counts of disturbing the peace.
A $50,000 cash bail was imposed on Repeki yesterday; preliminary hearing is on June 28 at 9am.
Assistant public defender Nancy Dominski was appointed counsel for Repeki. Assistant attorney general Heather Barcinas appeared for the government.
According to police, the victim called the Department of Public Safety on Monday at 12:31am to report a domestic disturbance between her and her boyfriend, Repeki.
The victim told DPS she would wait for the police at the Tanapag basketball court because Repeki has a gun.
At 1am, a responding police officer drove from the Tanapag basketball court to the victim’s house and he saw extensive damage inside the house. The officer later saw a shirtless man, later identified as Repeki, by a neighbor’s lawn.
The officer approached Repeki and tried to secure him when Repeki allegedly turned around and pushed the officer on the chest. As the officer tried again to handcuff Repeki, he allegedly pulled his hand away and pushed the officer’s shoulder twice.
Repeki allegedly clenched his right fist and was about to punch the officer, who then stepped back and maced him. Repeki was arrested.
The victim told police that Repeki had been drinking since 7pm that Father’s Day and told her to buy more drinks but she refused.
Repeki then took a machete and allegedly threatened to kill her. The victim said she was frightened so she drove her car to Garapan to meet her co-workers.
Police said that most of the victim’s belongings were destroyed, the glass from the refrigerator was shattered, the bed was thrown upside down, and drawers were scattered.
