UOG Upward Bound wins $2M grant

The University of Guam’s TRIO-Upward Bound college preparation program has won a grant from the U.S. Department of Education to continue providing services.
According to Rowena T. Andrade, UB assistant director, the program will receive $2 million over the next five years.
Upward Bound currently serves over 100 high school students in Guam, primarily from the public schools.

Upward Bound provides free academic support services for eligible students so they may graduate and enroll in a postsecondary institution. Services include after-school tutorial services, college and career preparation activities, self-development workshops, standardized test prep, a six-week summer program at UOG, and more benefits.
UOG has hosted the UB program since 1989 for students who are first-generation college students and/ or from low-income families. (PR)
