More than 350 students attended Northern Marianas College’s Cash for College workshop this past Saturday on Saipan.

“We are glad to see that so many students are taking advantage of the assistance that the Cash for College workshops offer,” said NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez. “We encourage our residents on Tinian and Rota to attend the workshops scheduled on those islands this week.”

The next Cash for College workshop will be held on Tinian on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, from 9am to 2pm at the NMC Tinian Center. The workshop will also be held on Rota on Thursday, June 22, 2017, from 10am to 2pm at the NMC Rota Center.

The workshop aims to assist students and their parents maximize scholarship opportunities that are available to students seeking to obtain a college education. The workshop will be an ongoing session, so participants can stop by anytime during the scheduled times noted above.

The workshop is free to attend and is open to anyone in the community who would like assistance in finding money for college—whether they are recent high school graduates or not. Participants will be provided with personal, step-by-step assistance in completing college financial aid forms, focusing especially on forms for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, the Tinian or Rota Municipal Scholarship, and the CNMI Scholarship.

Staff members from the college will also be present to provide information and assistance with the NMC application process.

Although not required, It is recommended that workshop participants bring a valid form of identification (e.g., a valid U.S. passport, copy of valid application for a U.S. passport, birth certificate, or green card), an official transcript from high school (at least three official copies), copy of 2015 1040, copy of 2015 W-2 (if not filing), and proof of CNMI residency, including proof of continuing residency.
