SYP has its second mixer of 2017

The Saipan Young Professionals had its second quarter mixer hosted by IT&E last Saturday night at the Tribes Bar in Garapan.

The mixer enables SYP members to mingle with potential recruits. This event gives current members a chance to share with others what the organization is all about.

According to the Saipan Chamber of Commerce administrator and coordinator Mercilynn Kaneshi Palec, the event is different from the previous quarters because outsiders were now charged an entrance fee of $10 and SYP members were charged $8.

According to Palec, the event was also an opportunity for SYP to earn funds.

The organization has future plans to start a mentoring program with middle schools and high schools all over the Commonwealth.

The mixer also gives companies a chance to explain what their business is about. So far, companies like Pacifica Insurance Underwriters, Inc. and Paradise Dental Clinic have taken their turns in hosting this quarterly mixer.

SYP is a committee under the Chamber.

According to Palec, being a part of this committee gives members direct access to the Chamber’s resources and insights of Chamber members.

Members of SYP are given direct information from the Chamber that they can use for their benefit.

For those who are interested in becoming SYP members, applications are still being accepted. You may apply to become a committee member if you are 18 years of age or older. There is a $35 annual membership fee.
