Members of the Tinian Little League delegation gathered for a special dinner hosted by Imperial Pacific International, Ltd.’s Corporate Social Responsibility.
The Tinian Little League team competed in the 2017 CNMI District Tournament that kicked off last week, with Saipan, Tinian, and Rota slugging it out for the Asia-Pacific Regional Championships slot in the majors division.
Tinian and Aguiguan Mayor Joey Patrick San Nicolas joined the Tinian little league team and IPI-CSR during the special dinner that was held Friday evening at the Aquarius Beach.
“Hosting us [with this special dinner] is a reflection of [how] businesses are getting involved with youth and community functions,” said Jovita Paulino of the Tinian Little League Association.
She said the dinner tendered by Imperial Pacific is one less expense: “The funds reserved may be utilized for other necessities for the district tournament, such as much needed batting gloves or new cleats to replace an old, worn-out pair.”
San Nicolas also encouraged the team to reach out to Imperial Pacific, citing how the largest private sector employer in the CNMI has been actively engaged in various community activities and events.
“The recommendation came from our mayor and the media coverage on Best Sunshine International-Imperial Pacific International’s generous contributions to the CNMI were main factors why we have reached out to Imperial Pacific,” Paulino disclosed.
“Thank you for your kind contributions during the 2017 Little League District Tournament,” she added.
Saipan is also hosting the Asia Pacific Tournament in the Junior and Senior League divisions from July 22 to July 3. In the junior division, the CNMI will be pitted against Chinese-Taipei, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Guam. The senior leagues will have the CNMI, Hong Kong, the Philippine, and Guam pitting against each other and the winners of the Saipan-hosted ASPAC will advance to the world series. (PR)
