Saipan Mayor’s Office appropriated $220K

A total of $220,000 has been appropriated to the Saipan Mayor’s Office and other government agencies.

House Local Bill 20-3, signed into law on Monday by Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, allocated a total of $327,234.49 to government agencies on Saipan, with the Saipan Mayor’s Office receiving $220,000 to buy a grader.

Some $15,000 was appropriated for the 36th Flame Tree Arts Festival; $27,000 was appropriated to the Northern Marianas Sports Association’s national and junior national baseball team’s participation in the 2nd Micronesian Baseball Classic in Koror Palau; $7,500 for the Marianas Trench Fishing and Seafood Festival; and $2,500 for the Annual International Fishing Derby.

The law also appropriates $50,234.49 to the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation, while $5,000 was appropriated for the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.’s telehealth demonstration project.

Also signed into law last Monday was HLB 20-01, which appropriated a total of $463,279 for several Saipan precincts.

Precinct I got funding to pave Feddos Lane in As Lito; Precinct II was allocated for the restoration and renovations of the San Isidro Beach Park; Precinct III was appropriated for the water drainage or catchment system in Oleai by the San Jose Church to prevent flooding; and Precinct IV was appropriated for the storm drainage in the Tanapag Homestead area and for repairs of Gera Lane in the As Matuis area.
