Responding to an appeal from the Marianas Visitors Authority for help easing immigration processing time at the Francisco C. Ada Saipan International Airport, Imperial Pacific International has donated funds for the purchase of three automated passport machines, or APCs.
IPI officials turned over $139,500 to MVA officials last Friday. With the MVA’s purchase of four machines already ordered, long wait times are expected to be improved.
“We’re grateful to Imperial Pacific for answering our request to our membership last month for help,” said MVA managing director Christopher A. Concepcion. “We continue to look for ways to support the airport and U.S. Customs & Border Protection in their important responsibilities that support the tourism industry.”
The machines can be used by U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, U.S. visa holders, and Electronic System for Travel Authorization holders.
“Imperial Pacific, as a corporate citizen and a partner to this community, remains steadfast with its commitment in supporting the economic development of the CNMI in every possible way it can contribute,” the company said in a statement. “Imperial Pacific is humbled to be able to contribute toward the improvement in the processing time of tourists visiting the CNMI. With three additional APC machines, Imperial Pacific is optimistic that it will eventually ease the waiting time of tourists who come to visit our islands.”
