Woman allegedly beats up man in parking squabble
The female owner of a beauty parlor was arrested on Tuesday night in As Lito for allegedly beating up a man and vandalizing his store in San Antonio, apparently over their parking space squabble.
Wen Jie Luo, 45, was arrested for assault and battery, assault, criminal mischief, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and obstructing justice. Her bail was set at $5,000 cash.
At a hearing yesterday, assistant attorney general Heather Barcinas, counsel for the government, said their concern is that Luo used the back door of her beauty parlor to avoid being arrested.
Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio, however, reduced the bail to $2,500 at the request of defense attorney Colin Thompson.
Preliminary hearing will be on June 15 at 9am.
The Department of Public Safety sent an officer to the TOHA Supermarket in San Antonio last May 29 at 10:51am to check on an assault and battery complaint.
The victim alleged that Luo slapped him in the face when he parked his car in front of the stairs leading to Luo’s Angel Beauty Salon on the second floor.
TOHA Supermarket is located on the ground floor of the building.
The victim told police he was inside his car when Luo parked her car next to his. Luo then opened her car’s door, hitting the victim’s car. When the victim confronted her for hitting his car, Luo denied it and instead asked him why he was parking in her parking space.
The victim pointed out that there’s no sign in the parking space that it belongs to Luo. The victim then called the building owner on the phone and was told that the parking lot is open to anyone.
The victim said he was calling the police on his phone when Luo allegedly started punching and kicking him. She also slapped his face with her slipper. Even after the officer arrived at the scene, Luo allegedly threatened to kill the victim.
The following day, May 30, at 1:50pm, the victim told police that his store’s signboard had been vandalized. A witness allegedly saw Luo ripping the store’s electrical cord.
That night of May 30, the victim called the police again after Luo allegedly yelled at him and his two employees while they were in the parking lot.
When police responded and told Luo that she would be arrested, she called her husband, a former police officer, and left the place through her shop’s back door.
