“A new set of challenges will welcome you as you move up to middle school. Whether they are big or small, don’t give up. Stay focused, work hard, and believe in yourself.”
These were the words of Philippine honorary consul Glicerio Arago, who was the keynote speaker in Green Meadows School’s 7th Commencement Exercise last May 27, 2017, at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.
Arago reiterated his message by showing pictures of students from China and the Philippines and cited the sacrifices the students had to bear to go to school and study.
His message coincided with the graduation theme, which states, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
GMS valedictorians Jill Anne Marie O. Mallari (sixth grade) and Areeza Gaile C. Anda (fifth grade) and salutatorians Christian Ted Pamintuan (sixth grade) and Danielle Nicole P. Sacramento (fifth grade) are the perfect example of students who worked hard to achieve recognition.
A total of 25 students were promoted to fifth grade (elementary) and sixth grade (middle school) during the event.
A total of 90 students from Kindergarten and first to fourth grade also went up the stage with their parents to receive their medals, trophies, and certificates.
Milagros Songcuan, GMS president and principal, congratulated the students, parents, teachers, and staff for a job well done.
Department of Community and Cultural Affairs Secretary Robert Hunter was the keynote speaker for the Kindergarten and first to fourth grades promotion. He encouraged the students to study harder and paid tribute to GMS teachers and staff, saying he was pleased with the academic achievements of his daughter. GMS 4th grade Aaro Solana Hunter won a gold medal last year in MathCourt statewide, STEM Fair participant, Elementary Academic Bee team member which placed fifth, and a PGFC winner.
GMS also held a preschool promotion ceremony, with outstanding student Xela Khloe C. Barbo and Edrich Jewel M. Armia honored for their achievements. Percy Kyle C. Barbo and Paul Andrei B. Bernardo were the valedictorians in their respective classes. The salutatorians were Jacie Heart S. Quindoza and Michael Jan Frederic M. Guintu.
