CNMI nurses celebrate Nurses Week

The 30th anniversary of the CNMI Nurses Week was marked with a proclamation signing at the Commonwealth Health Center conference room last Friday, declaring June 5 to 10 as CNMI Nurses Week
The proclamation signing, which honors the 3.9 million nurses in the U.S., is also the start of numerous events hosted by the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.
Led by the 4th CNMI Nursing Association Let’s Tri Challenge at Paupau Beach last Saturday, Nurses Week also featured a Mass at Kristo Rai Church on Sunday, followed by a sportsfest at Ada Gymnasium, the “Outrun the Outbreak” Fun Run on Beach Road on June 9, and the concluding 5th CNMI nursing convention and CNMI Nurses Ball on June 10.
The CNMI Nursing Association, along with the American Nurses Association, were honored as well during the proclamation.
“Professional nursing has been demonstrated to be an indispensable component in the safety and quality of care of hospitalized patients,” reads part of the proclamation. “The demand for nursing services will be greater than ever because of the aging population, the continuing expansion of life-sustaining technology, and the explosive growth of home health care services.”
This year’s theme for CNMI Nurses Week is “Nursing: The Balance of Mind, Body, and Spirit.”
There are about 180 nurses at CHCC.
