An appropriations bill seeks to allocate $393,279 to fund several Saipan projects. The bill, House Local Bill 20-1, D3, recently passed the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation and now heads to Gov. Ralph DLG Torres for his signature.

The bill is funded by money from the Earned Bond Interest Income collected for Saipan and the Northern Islands. The Commonwealth Development Authority identified the money that became available for appropriation.

The money is divided equally among the five Saipan precincts, each one getting $78,655.80.

Precinct 1 would use the money to fund a drainage project in As Lito and Lower Dandan while Precinct 2 would restore and renovate the San Isidro Beach Park.

Precinct 3 will divide the money to fund two projects: $50,000 for the water drainage/catchment system in Oleai near San Jose Church, and $28,655.80 to upgrade the sewer system in Garapan near the American Memorial Park. The area is in Micro Beach Road heading toward Navy Hill.

Precinct 4 also split their appropriated fund, with $46,655.80 intended for the storm drainage in the Tanapag Homestead area while $30,000 is for the repair of Gera Lane in As Matuis.

Precinct 5 would use its $78,655.80 to pave and repair the drainage system in Palu Place and West Laulau Bay Drive in San Vicente.

The bill was introduced by Rep. Blas Jonathan T. Atta (Ind-Saipan).
