670 Sonics XVI hammers Northside Wolves

The 670 Sonics XVI walloped the Northside Wolves, 73-32, during their boys U18 division game in the 2017 Francisco M. Diaz Memorial Youth League last Wednesday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
Four 670 Sonics XVI players scored in double figures to hand their team the lopsided win after a sorry loss to the Ol’Aces last Monday. Center Jester Kintaro paced the 670 Sonics XVI with his 12 points, while Khristian Itaas and Sean Rafols chipped in 11 each, and Jehp Ejercito contributed 10. Three more 670 Sonics XVI players added at least 5 points apiece for the team’s balance offense.
With Kintaro and company on target, 670 Sonics XVI pulled away early in the game, taking a 31-10 advantage after the first half. The Northside Wolves never recovered from thereon, as only Angelo Royce consistently hit multiple baskets for the losing squad.
In other results in the boys U18 this week, the Ol’Aces nipped the 670 Sonics XVI, 48-47; the NMI Rollers downed the Ol’Aces Elite, 51-47; and the Ol’Aces Extreme outclassed Kagman Sparks, 57-52.
Leander Rabago nailed two of the Ol’Aces Extreme’s last four field goals for their close win last Tuesday. He also top-scored for his squad after recording 17 points. Peter Santos had 14 markers on a losing effort for Kagman Sparks.
In last Monday’s first game, the NMI Rollers got 4 of its last 6 points from the foul line to defeat the Ol’Aces Elite.
Angelo Factor knocked in a pair of charities, while Dalton Dancoe and Manny Cobacha had one each, and Jude Tengco drilled the NMI Rollers’ last field goal. Tengco finished the game with 12 points to lead the NMI Rollers, while Dancoe backed him up after contributing 10.
In the second game, the Ol’Aces pulled off a 48-47 victory over 670 Sonics XVI, thanks to Dean Blake’s free throw.
Blake was fouled by Kintaro in the closing seconds of the match and the former split his charities to save the day for the Ol’Aces. Before Blake’s free throw, the 670 Sonics XVI had a chance to grab the lead when Itaas also stepped to the stripe. However, the lefty made only one free throw to force the deadlock.
Meanwhile, in the lone women’s match played this week, the Ol’Aces dominated the Ol’Aces Junior, 47-18.
Cassandra Camacho, Chevy Alipio, and Sylvina Simram scored 8 points apiece to help the Ol’Aces ease past the Ol’Aces Junior, which was led by the 10 points of Sedrei Camacho.
