Public invited to college’s Charter Day party on Friday

To celebrate more than 35 years of enriching lives through higher education, the Northern Marianas College is inviting the community to its biggest celebration of the year, Charter Day, on Friday, May 12, 2017.

“We are inviting everyone to join us in As Terlaje for our annual Charter Day celebration on Friday,” said NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez. “There will be lively entertainment from students and community members, fun competitions, and other activities for the entire family.”

This Friday’s Charter Day celebration will include performances by LJ Naputi, who swept all the awards as last week’s Flame Tree Festival Chamolinian Music Contest; JJ Concepcion; Roman Jr. Tudela; Big J; Simiyan Marianas; Rhythm & Harmony; Carolinian Maas Dance Group; Palauan Community; 29:11 Dance Group; Nikki Ayuyu; Felix Rabauliman; Three Shores; and many more.

Additionally, the program includes the “PROA FACTOR” talent competition, which replaces the Marianas Idol Competition and the Battle of the Bands. The deadline to join the competition is today, May 8, 2017 and auditions will be held tomorrow, May 9.

In addition to an impressive entertainment lineup, Charter Day festivities will also feature a number of food vendors and other organizations who are showcasing their programs and services.

This year, the Northern Marianas College Cooperative Research, Education, and Extension Service will also be hosting demonstrations and giving away seedlings, plants, and other items.
