11 teams compete in FA Boys and Girls Cup

Eleven teams will vie for the title in the FA Boys and Girls Cup 2017 that will be played tomorrow at the Hopwood Middle School Field.

TanHoldings Co-ed U12A, Shirley’s Football Club Girls U15, MP United Co-ed U12A, and Kanoa Girls U15 are among the squads entered in the weekend tournament and they automatically moved into the second round of the single-elimination competition after finishing in the Top 2 in their respective divisions in the 2017 NMIFA Youth Spring League.

Joining the four seeded teams are Matansa Girls U15, MP United Girls U15, TanHoldings Girls U15, Kanoa-2 Co-ed U12, Paire Girls U15, Kanoa-1 Co-Ed U12, and Southern United Girls U15. Matansa Girls U15 and MP United Girls U15 will collide in the set of first round matches ta 8pm at Pitch 1, while over at Pitch 2, it will be Kanoa-2 versus TanHoldings Girls U15. In the 9am tiff, Paire Girls U15 will go up against Kanoa-1 U12 at Pitch 1, while Southern United drew a bye in the opening round and will face Kanoa Girls U15 in the second.

Preliminary matches will be played in the morning and the last two teams left standing will duel for the Cup at 3pm. A consolation match between the losers in the semifinals will take place at 2pm.

Meanwhile, the boys U14 games in the 2017 NMIFA Youth Spring League were completed last Saturday.

Kanoa and Paire played in the first match, which ended in a draw, 2-2. Dylan Mister knocked in the pair of goals for Paire, while Ian Karl Maniago and Ian Lubao scored for Kanoa.

Kanoa also played its make-up match against MP United last weekend and stunned the eventual champion, 2-1. Maniago also hit the board for Kanoa in their last game of the season, while David Kim made the other goal. Rintaro Miyawaki avoided a shutout for MP United with his goal in the second half.

In other results, division second placer TanHoldings hammered Paire, 8-0. Taka Borja drilled four goals in TanHoldings rout of Paire, while Oliver Fajardo chipped in two and Richard Waldo and Kohtaro Goto added one apiece.

Matansa also earned a lopsided victory against Shirley’s in their final game in the division, 5-0. Lolobeyong Benito had two goals for Matansa, which drew one each from Albert Elauria, Razeff Altamirano, and Justin Charles Achas.
