The Marianas Visitors Authority is undertaking several media tie-ups in Japan this month to promote summer travel to the Northern Marianas.
The April 23 issue of women’s magazine CanCam features the cover story “Everything You Can Do in The Marianas: Saipan, Tinian, and Rota,” nine pages of coverage on the islands. The story follows two models were are both popular and influential with Japanese young people: CanCam model and super idol unit “Nogizaka 46”member Sayuri Matsumura and fashion model and TV star Akane Hotta. The magazine circulates 213,000 copies monthly.
Last April 24 online travel curation media Retrip launched the special feature “Probably the No. 1 Trip This Year! 7 Reasons to Go to The Marianas Now When You Plan a 2-night, 3-day Trip.” Two additional features on the Northern Marianas will be launched in May and June, targeting the site’s 26 million monthly unique users.
Also, women’s magazine Oggi will include a four-page feature titled “How to Enjoy 3 Islands of The Marianas” in their June issue to be released on April 28. The magazine circulates 220,000 copies monthly.
“Many people are making their summer travel plans now, so this is an opportune time to remind them of the wonderful experiences they can have in The Marianas, such as enjoying our beautiful scenery, having luxurious experiences at local resorts, taking time for spiritual reflections at sacred places, and enjoying the simple island life,” said MVA managing director Christopher A. Concepcion. “These are just a few of the experiences that Saipan, Tinian, and Rota have to offer.”
The MVA is also working on a tie-up with travel curation site Tabi MUSE and Delta Air Lines on a July FAM(iliarization) tour. The site targets women in their 20s and 40s. (PR)
