The Rota Chamorro Cultural Center is offering free lessons on making amot monglo maipi, alaguan haga’af, aliling ni ma lechi niyuk, and tia’o this Saturday from 9am to 4pm with lunch break between 11:30am and 12:30pm. These activities will be held at the backside of the Rota Community & Cultural Affairs Office Compound. Bring your children so they too can learn the traditional ways of Chamorros and Carolinians.

On Saipan, the activities at the Chamorro-Carolinian Cultural Center include making champuladu and coconut leaf weaving for Carolinian Mass dance. Lessons are from 9:30am to noon at 1213 Capitol Hill Road, next to the CNMI Board of Parole Office building.

These activities are sponsored by the Association of Native Medicine and Culture, in partnership with the Rota Community and Cultural Affairs Office, Rota Mayor’s Office, and the Indigenous Affairs Office (Saipan), and funded in part by the Administration for Native Americans. For more information, call Beck Kani on Rota at 532-9350/5562. On Saipan call 322-0278.
