Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho yesterday found probable cause to charge Kaylynn Hebron Deleon Guerrero over the repeated slapping of an 8-year-old boy on the face, punching his stomach, and leaving him outside the abandoned La Fiesta Mall in San Roque.

At the preliminary hearing, Camacho found probable cause to believe that the crimes of assault and battery and child abuse or neglect were committed and the 27-year-old Deleon Guerrero may have committed such offenses.

Camacho ordered Deleon Guerrero to answer the charges.

Arraignment will be on April 24 at 9am.

At the hearing, assistant attorney general Betsy Weintraub called to the witness stand police detective Buddy S. Igitol, who is the officer in charge of the case. Assistant public defender Cindy Nesbit served as counsel for the defendant.

Detective Igitol stated in his report that through a school’s principal, police officers learned that last April 10, the boy rode a bus from school to a bus stop in Kagman 2, where Deleon Guerrero picked him up.

While driving the car on their way to San Roque, Deleon Guerrero got mad after noticing that the boy was sweating apparently for playing.

She slapped the boy several times and punched him on the stomach. She stopped the car at the former La Fiesta Mall, then told him to get down.

The boy expressed how afraid he was, after the defendant drove off, leaving him alone in the abandoned mall. The report did not mention whether the boy walked on his way home or Deleon Guerrero picked him up later.
