Youth sailors participate in world sailing clinic in Vanuatu

Guam teen sailors Made Bradley and Mia Kriegel began their World Sailing Emerging Nations Sailing Clinic last April 14 in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
Selected by the Guam Sailing Federation to participate in the course, Bradley and Kriegal, along with GSF coach Victor Torres, will spend April 14-20 learning various sailing and racing techniques such as starting, tacking and mark rounding.
The clinic is conducted by experts from World Sailing, the international governing body for sailing. Sailing youth under 19 years of age from other Pacific island nations are also participating in the course.
“The Guam Sailing Federation successfully applied for funding to send participants to the clinic,” said GSF president Kelly Bruce. “The sailors were selected based on their participation in local race and clinic events such as the Goodwill Regatta which was held in March. Our young sailors will return to Guam at the end of the week with a new set of skills which will help build our youth sailing program.” (PR)
