A 24-year-old man was stabbed and injured by another man during their argument in an apartment in western Garapan on Thursday night.

The victim, a Chinese national, suffered injuries on the chest and left arm. He was transported to the Commonwealth Health Center’s emergency room for further treatment after medics stabilized his condition.

The suspect who was identified as Chuannian Bi, 45, a Chinese national, also suffered a laceration on his face. He was arrested for assault and battery and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Jason Tarkong said yesterday that DPS Central dispatched Koban Bike Patrol officers to Queens Apartment in western Garapan on Thursday at 9:10pm after receiving a report about a stabbing incident.

Witnesses brought the officers to the victim, who was bleeding at that time due to his injuries. Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services medics arrived at the area and stabilized the victim and transported him to CHC.

Police learned that the victim and the suspect were heard arguing at their room on the fourth floor of the apartment.

During the argument, witnesses discovered the victim on the floor with injuries, while the suspect fled the scene.

It took several bystanders to stop the altercation, Tarkong said.

Officers canvassed the area and arrested Bi, who was also later taken to the hospital for laceration. After a doctor gave clearance, Bi was arrested and taken to the Department of Corrections.

The victim was admitted to the hospital for observation.

“This case is still under further investigation,” Tarkong said.

The report did not mention what triggered the argument and what type of weapon was used. The report also did not indicate whether the two are tourists or workers.
