MTEC: Appreciate diversity
As part of its annual school presentations, MTEC is encouraging students to appreciate and celebrate others, including the diverse visitors who come to the Marianas.
Most recently, MTEC presented at Koblerville Elementary School on April 6, 2017, where they taught students which countries most of visitors from the Marianas come from and shared some common greetings from those countries. MTEC also presented various careers in the tourism industry and urged students to learn Korean, Chinese, or Japanese to be able to communicate with tourists better when they enter the job market.
Guest speaker Nola Hix of MY Pros organization shared her career experiences and some personal advice with the 5th graders at Koblerville Elementary.
“Treat others like you want to be treated,” said Hix, in urging students to be kind and accepting of others.
The Marianas Visitors Authority also shared about the purpose and activities of the office, including various marketing and promotions activities in foreign countries.
“This particular MTEC outreach focused on the value of freedom and harmony among our students,” said MTEC president Vicky Benavente. “We also emphasized that visitors choose to come to the Marianas because it is a safe and peaceful travel destination.”
MTEC was selected as this beneficiary of Saturday’s Pacific Islands Club Saipan’s Hafa Adai 5K, which was joined by 1,500 participants. (MTEC)
