Wife named third-party custodian of former cop
A former police officer who is facing extortion charges was allowed yesterday to replace his third-party custodian with his common-law wife.
Travis Dela Cruz Iglecias was allowed to replace a couple with Macy Aguon as his third-party custodian.
Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho approved the replacement after being told that the one currently serving as Iglecias’ third-party custodian, the husband, is on medical referral to Guam. The wife, who is also a third-party custodian, will be accompanying him to the Guam Regional Medical City.
Iglecias has been on house arrest and previously had four people as his third-party custodians. With the substitution of the couple, he is still under house arrest with three people (Aguon, his aunt, and uncle) as his third-party custodians.
Joaquin Torres represents Iglecias in the case. Assistant attorney general Matthew Baisley represented the government.
Camacho will preside over the jury trial on Aug. 21, 2017.
Iglecias, 24, allegedly pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation and threatened the driver, a Chinese woman, with jail if she refuses to have sex with him or pay him $300 last Sept. 25.
After the woman allegedly paid him $300, the then-police officer released her from custody at her house.
The Office of the Attorney General charged Iglecias with theft by extortion, false arrest, and misconduct in office. Iglecias pleaded not guilty.
