Power outages on April 1, 4
There will be a scheduled power interruption on Saturday, April 1, 2017, from 5:30am to 10:30am and on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, from 9am to 2pm.
In the first outage, it is intended to de-energize the primary lines to allow Commonwealth Utilities Corp. line crew to safely replace eight wooden power poles with concrete poles along Alageta Rd. in Kagman 2. This will affect CUC customers in Kagman 2. Water wells to be affected include KG-7, KG-8, KG-9, KG-14, and KG-15.
On Tuesday, CUC line crew will replace five wooden power poles with concrete poles along Chalan Tun Herman Pan in front of Sky Chefs. Areas to be affected are POI Aviation, Delta Cargo, United Cargo, Sky Chefs, CUC Sand Filtration, Airport Mobil and Red Cross. Water wells to be affected include IF-4, IF-7, and IF-8.
Both projects are part of an ongoing FEMA Hazard Mitigation Program to strengthen and harden the integrity of the power distribution system throughout Saipan. Because of the scale of work that will be performed, CUC asks travelers to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the affected areas.
