Paire, Southern United win in girls U15 league

Paire Football Club and Southern United FC earned contrasting victories in the girls U15 division of the 2017 NMIFA Youth Spring League last Saturday at the Francisco Mendiola Sablan Middle School Field.

In the curtain-raiser, Southern whipped Matansa, 5-0, to gain its first win in five games. Keisha Deleon Guerrero helped Southern ease past Matansa after scoring a hat trick, while Marinel Joy Falamlimpa and Christina Atalig made the two other goals for the team.

Deleon Guerrero drew first blood for Southern with her shot in the 14th minute, while Falamlimpa gave the squad a 2-0 lead after finding the back of the net in the 31st. Atalig then opened the scoring for Southern in the second half with her conversion in the 42nd minute, while Deleon Guerrero closed out the one-sided game with back-to-back goals.

With Matansa failing to counter and absorbing its fourth loss against one victory, it dropped to the bottom of the team standings in the seven-squad field, joining TanHoldings at the cellar.
Paire moved up to fourth place with its 2-0-3 win-draw-loss mark following a 2-1 triumph over TanHoldings last weekend.

Kiana Camacho knocked in the pair of goals for Paire, while TanHoldings got its lone goal from Mary Joy Aniana.

MP United 6, Matansa 3
MP United kept the top spot in the division after defeating Matansa last Saturday at the Hopwood Junior High School Field.

MP United now has a 4-2-1 mark, just slightly ahead of Kanoa-1 (4-1-1). Garrett Weaver and Andrew Chung drilled two goals apiece for MP United, which drew one each from Cody Shimizu and Ryan Pangilinan.

The division-leading team got off to a good start, posting a 5-2 lead after the first half. Chung made both his goals in the opening frame with his first registered in the 24th minute and the second four minutes later. Earlier in the 25th minute, Shimizu made it to the board.

Matansa, on the other hand, got one goal each from Alex Megino (fourth minute) and Chanyang Woo (26th) to keep MP United within striking distance before surrendering two more goals late in the first half. Weaver scored the last two goals for MP United in the final two minutes of the first half, while Pangelinan logged the team’s lone goal in the second (53rd). Matansa’s third and last goal came from Philip Megino in the 43rd minute.

With the loss, Matansa is still in fourth place in the five-team field as it dropped to a 1-0-4 card.

Kanoa-1 17, Kanoa-2 2
In the other division game Kanoa-1 showed no mercy to sister team Kanoa-2.

Sean Gil led Kanoa-1’s demolition of Kanoa-2 after firing four goals. Five other Kanoa-1 players scored multiple goals, while Ruben Guerrero nailed the pair of shots for Kanoa-1, which has yet to notch a single win in six games.
