Enrico Valdez won his one-on-one showdown against perennial rival Vincent Aldan in the 3rd Marianas Muscle Bodybuilding and Physique Competition held last Saturday at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.
Valdez topped the men’s physique division, avenging his loss to Aldan in the same tournament last year.
“It was great to win this year despite having not so much preparation. I joined for fun and just remained consistent with my workout and watched my diet,” said Valdez.
Last Saturday’s competition was just one of the several events that Valdez will be competing in. In June, he will participate in a tournament in Hawaii, while he is also eyeing a world event later this year. Valdez will also join the Northern Marianas Bodybuilding and Physique Federation-organized CNMI Championships in July.
Meanwhile, in the junior physique category, newcomer Evan Becher ruled the four-man field. The first-timer defeated fellow new participants Kodin Diaz, Nathan Nogis, and Sean Japor.
In the women’s division, Jennifer Choi was the lone entry in both the women’s figure and women’s physique categories.
Choi, Valdez, Aldan, Belcher, and the second and third finishers in the juniors physique got medals and trophies. CBF president John Davis, former women’s physique champion Jocelyn Itibus, and Dee Clayton presented the awards to the winners.
