Glushko Academy to stage 2-day ballet concert
Glushko’s Academy of Performing Arts will once again stage a ballet concert on April 1 and 2 at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe, this time showcasing an excerpt from the ballet classic Don Quixote.
Anna Glushko, owner, director, and choreographer of Glushko’s Academy, said the ballet concert next Saturday and Sunday will introduce Saipan’s balletomanes to world-class performers.
Three Russian dancers from St. Petersburg are expected to participate in the two-day concert.
Glushko said this year’s performers belong to the “…top performers in the world. They live and perform in St. Petersburg but they travel all over the world. They have hundreds and thousands of people come to watch them.”
Besides the three Russian guest dancers, there will also be a guest performer from Japan, a former student of Glushko’s Academy who moved to Japan at the age of 22. There will also be 15 students from Glushko’s Academy who will be performing in the concert next Saturday and Sunday.
Since 2002, the Glushko’s Academy of Performing Arts has hosted numerous ballet concerts on Saipan. The events are also intended to give a chance to the students of Glushko’s Academy to perform and to see what it takes to be a ballet dancer and to be a part of a performance.
Glushko said this concert will also mark the 15th anniversary of Glushko’s Academy. “We opened Glushko’s Academy in January 2002 and our first big performance was in the year 2002, so this performance will be our 15th year,” Glushko said.
Tickets will be sold at Highway Shell gas stations in Puerto Rico and Susupe. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the Shenanigan’s Restaurant in Garapan, or at the gate before the performance.
It’s $10 for children, $15 for adults, and $25 for VIP seating. For more information, call Glushko at 670-483-6271.
