A car that was parked behind the Sura Restaurant in Garapan was stolen early Sunday morning.

Maki Y. Aquino posted on her social media page that her 2015 Toyota Corolla LE sedan with license plate ACM 609 had been stolen.

Saipan Tribune called Aquino last night for an interview but she was not available.

Aquino’s co-worker, who requested not to be identified, confirmed that the car is indeed missing.

The co-worker said it was he who parked the car behind Sura Restaurant on Saturday at 9pm.

He said the car was still behind the restaurant on

Sunday at about 1am because Aquino went back to get something from the vehicle.

The co-worker said it was after 30 minutes when they learned that the car was gone.

Aquino stated in her post that she still has the car key and had locked the vehicle.

Inside the car are Aquino’s identification cards, wallet, purse, cellphone, cash, and paycheck.

She reportedly called all towing companies and the Department of Public Safety to find out if they had taken her vehicle but all replied in the negative.

Aquino appealed to the police and public to help her find her vehicle.

Last Feb. 19, a red 1998 Toyota Hilux pickup truck with license plate ABK-269 owned by June Alipio, was stolen in As Lito.

Despite a $300 cash reward he offered, Alipio has not received tips or any information about his truck and who stole it.

DPS and the NMI Crime Stoppers Program have yet to release information about the two cases.
