Tribune to join Virgo cruise

Saipan Tribune will join several media outlets from neighboring Guam in a six-day, five-night cruise aboard Star Cruises’ SuperStar Virgo.

Organized by international hotel chain Resorts World Manila, media taking part in the SuperStar Virgo media familiarization cruise program also include KTKB, Guamanian magazine, KUAM, Pacific Island Times, and The Post.

The cruise will originate from the Philippine capital of Manila on March 19 and will proceed to Laoag, then to Kaohsiung, Taiwan, before sailing to Hong Kong, China. The ship returns to Manila on March 24.

SuperStar Virgo, which is also under Resorts World Manila, could accommodate up to 1,870 passengers and was designed specifically for the Asian cruise market.

The 882-foot, over 75,000-gross ton luxury cruise liner has 13 bars and restaurants. It also has an outdoor swimming pool, four hot tubs, a mega waterslide, golf driving range, mini golf, basketball court and jogging circuit, steam, sauna, Japanese plunge bath, locker rooms, jet current exercise pool, gymnasium, observation deck and sun-bathing area.

Other amenities include an open-style karaoke lounge, show lounge with the entertainment and activities, hairdressing and beauty salon, foot massage, deck games, live music, dance lounge, cocktail, card and mahjong games, and duty free shops.

Star Cruises is currently conducting a promotion for the SuperStar Virgo with prices as low as $490 per passenger for the cruise-only promotional fare for stateroom accommodations, with discounts for every third or fourth passenger for reservations made for departure dates March 19, 24, and 29. A port charge of $165 would also be charged per passenger.
