McDonald’s Saipan celebrates 24th anniversary

McDonald’s Saipan turns 24 years old tomorrow. As part of the largest fast food chain in the world, it will mark the occasion with promos and goodies for customers on its special day.

McDonald’s would be offering a free special edition McDonald’s tumbler for purchases worth more than $24. For children, a reusable Happy Meal cup is available for $0.50.

“Items are available while supplies last and are redeemable on our anniversary date of March 18 only,” said executive assistant to the president, Mable Ayuyu.

The company’s 24th anniversary means a lot to the Ayuyus.

“We’ve reached another milestone and we’d like to thank the community for their continued patronage,” said owner/operator Marcia Ayuyu.

Mable Ayuyu said the anniversary “gives us an opportunity to thank our valued customers for their support.”

“It has been another year that we’ve contributed and invested in our community,” added Mable Ayuyu.

As the community continues to avail of McDonald’s services, the more the community supports education, she pointed out.

“When you visit us at McDonald’s, you are helping us support education, support sporting events that keep our kids active, and support non-profit organizations that provide humanitarian services to our community,” she said.

Throughout the years, McDonald’s had hosted school events such as McTeacher’s Night.

“We’ve also donated to schools over the 24 years that we’ve been in business,” said Marcia Ayuyu. “We made major donations to organizations that directly help the people in the community such as American Red Cross and others.”

In one of their past anniversaries, Ronald McDonald, the famous mascot of the brand, visited Saipan to give children the opportunity to meet the character they’ve only seen in commercials.

McDonald’s was also one of the businesses that offered aid when Typhoon Soudelor rampaged through the CNMI.

“It shows a strong relationship with the community,” said Joe Ayuyu Jr., general manager of McDonald’s Middle Road. “Without the community’s support, we won’t be in business. We want to thank the community and the employees, because without them nothing really gets done.”

In a separate message, Marcia Ayuyu said, “Our vendors are important too us [as well] because when we need things like produce, our vendors help us and really go out of their way to provide us the goods that we need.”

According to Joe Ayuyu, some of their employees have been with them for several years, with some reaching up to 20 years with the company.

Joyce Asistores is one of them. The current McDonald’s Beach Road branch general manager, Asistores, together with Joe Ayuyu Jr., completed a business management course called the General Managers Business Leadership Capsstone at the Hamburger University in Chicago.

Asistores, who completed the course early this year, started out from the bottom and has been with McDonald’s for 22 years.

“McDonald’s is really a world of opportunity,” said Asistores. “If you work here and you have dedication and motivation, then it is [rewarded] and makes it possible to reach managerial positions.”

Jason Salazar, a manager-in-training at the McDonald’s Beach Road branch, was recently promoted to the managerial position and has been in training since March 12.

“For those interested in working here, it’s a really good job to [start your career]. Being a working student, McDonald’s adjusted to my class schedules to encourage me to pursue my studies,” said Salazar.

Salazar has been working for McDonald’s for three years now and has been working full time since then.
