First lady offers words of encouragement
“Lead together, praise one another, and support one another.”
These were the encouraging words of first lady Diann Torres to all women at yesterday’s meet-and-greet at the Hyatt Regency Saipan’s SandCastle, to kick off celebrations of Women’s Month in the CNMI.
Hosted by House vice speaker Janet Maratita (R-Saipan) and Rep. Alice Igitol (R-Saipan), the event saw the participation of a broad slice of the CNMI community, from individual female leaders, to businesswoman and many female movers and shakers in the Commonwealth.
Torres, a major advocate of women power, encouraged women to become supportive of one another and empowered those who attended yesterday’s event with her uplifting words.
She encouraged women to support each other and to be positive towards each other. Too often, women focus on the negativity and less on the positive but Torres said this is a habit that everyone must strive to eradicate.
“Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and the thinkers, but most of all surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself,” she said.
