Free NMC information sessions this week

Individuals interested in furthering their education and advancing their professional careers are encouraged to attend free information sessions hosted by the Northern Marianas College on July 25 and 27, 2012.

The first information session, which is open to all prospective students and community members, is on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in Room D-1 at the college’s As Terlaje campus.

The next information session, which is for working professionals (including all government and private sector employees) and those who wish to attend college after delaying enrollment (did not enter college in the same calendar year that he/she finished high school), will be on Friday, July 27, 2012, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in Room D-1.

At both sessions, NMC faculty, staff, and students from the different degree and certificate programs at NMC, as well as Student Services representatives from counseling, financial aid, and admissions will be on hand to provide helpful information and answer questions.

At the second information session, other important topics will be presented, including the increase in weekend and night classes in order to accommodate working individuals who are not able to attend classes during the workweek. In addition, financial aid options will also be discussed. For instance, the college offers a 50-percent discount on tuition for government employees who are ineligible to receive other scholarships.

Those who attend either session will also qualify to have their application fee and their placement test fees waived for NMC’s upcoming fall 2012 semester. This represents a savings of about $75.

The college is also reminding new students who have not applied for admission that the deadline to apply for admission to NMC for the fall 2012 semester is on Wednesday, July 31, 2012. For more information about NMC’s Fall 2012 registration and semester, visit www.nmcnet.edu.

NMC offers several degree and certificate programs, including a bachelor of science degree in education (emphasis on elementary education, early childhood education, special education, or rehabilitation and human services), associate degrees in business, business administration (emphasis on accounting, business management, or computer applications), liberal arts, nursing, natural resources management, criminal justice, and hospitality management. Moreover, it offers short-term certificate programs in different vocational, academic, and professional areas.
