McDonald’s donates $10K to the college
McDonald’s Saipan is offering a $5,000 hole-in-one prize for the NMC Foundation’s upcoming golf tournament on March 18.
McDonald’s Saipan also donated $5,000 to the fundraising golf tournament itself.
NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez is very happy with how the golf tournament preparations have been going and that she always appreciated the support of the Ayuyu family.
“Mr. Joe Ayuyu has always been supportive and his daughter, Mable Ayuyu, was a member of the Northern Marianas College Foundation. We are just so happy with the really good [amount] of donations given for the upcoming golf tournament. We think it is going to be a very big success,” said Fernandez.
Much of the funds that will be raised would go to the improvement of classrooms or professional development training of NMC staff.
McDonald’s Saipan executive assistant to the president Mable Ayuyu said that McDonald’s supports education above all.
“Education is an investment. We don’t see the golf tournament as just another event that we are donating to, we really see the money that we are giving for this golf tournament as money to support the education of students or possibly fund someone whose dream is to one day become a businessman,” said Ayuyu.
According to Ayuyu, McDonald’s always donates to NMC whenever it holds the golf tournament.
“My father [Joe Ayuyu Sr.] has a special niche for NMC, and he understands that they are the only community college on Saipan that services people that want to go to college, including residents of Rota, Tinian, and the Northern Islands,” said Ayuyu. “[McDonalds is] really proud to stand by them and see them succeed.”
