HAGÅTÑA, Guam—Delegate Madeleine Z. Bordallo (D-GU) announced Monday that she has nominated students from her constituency to four U.S. military academies. The nominations were presented to the applicants during a ceremony held on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2017.
This year’s applicants are currently students of senior standing at the Academy of Our Lady of Guam, George Washington High School, Simon Sanchez High School, Okkodo High School, St. John’s School, Harvest Christian Academy, Guam High School, and Fr. Duenas Memorial School.
The students completed a rigorous application and interview process with Bordallo to obtain the nomination to their chosen U.S. military academies.
Appointments to the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy will be announced between February and the end of the academic year.
“I am very proud to be able to nominate these students to the various U.S. military academies once again this year,” said Bordallo. “These students have maintained excellent academic stranding and leadership skills throughout their high school careers, and I am confident that they will excel at the academies. These students are to be commended for their courage and willingness to serve our country. This is an excellent opportunity for all of Guam’s students and I encourage incoming seniors to consider attending the service academies after high school and serving in our military.”
