Northern Marianas College president Dr. Carmen Fernandez announced yesterday the appointment of Andrew Reese, a certified public accountant, as the college’s new chief financial officer.

“We are very pleased to welcome someone of Andrew’s caliber to Northern Marianas College,” said Fernandez. “His extensive financial experience makes him a great fit for his new position at the college.”

In his new post, Reese will be the primary financial manager of the college and will oversee the college’s Finance Office, Budget Office, and the Procurement Management Office. He will also assist in overseeing college investments, help enhance audit processes, and monitor internal control measures.

“I’m excited to be joining the dynamic team at Northern Marianas College,” said Reese. “I’ve always been a big believer in the value that community colleges have in the development and professional growth of students, and I look forward to being a part of NMC’s mission to expand educational and training opportunities for all residents.”

Prior to joining Northern Marianas College, Reese worked as the lead general ledger accountant for the Thermal Supply, Inc., a company with over $220 million in revenues. In this capacity Reese supervised the accounting staff, compiled monthly financial statement for 24 branches, and performed other financial duties for the organization.

He also worked as a registered investment adviser for Morgan Stanley, where Reese supported the company’s Wealth Management Group with $320 million in assets under management. Reese also performed stock, option, and bond trades at the direction of financial advisers and clients. Furthermore, Reese also worked as general manager for D&L Jones Food Services, general manager and new store opening trainer for The Counter Burger, and also owned and operated a retail ice cream franchise for Cold Stone Creamery.

Reese earned his master’s degree in business administration in 2015 from Seattle University, where he specialized in leadership formation. During this time he earned a graduate certificate in accounting. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in general studies from Western Washington University. (NMC)
